Leapin' Leana, the Dream Machine
Join us on a yearlong adventure as we highlight America's unique and rich heritage -- through your stories!
At Looking Back, our specialty is sharing and preserving treasured memories from folks all across the country. In 2012, we are launching an important project to help you do the same for your family. It's called A Year of Looking Back.
Each issue, our job is to publish two questions that will take you back in time. Your job is to answer them! In addition to publishing the questions in the magazine, we'll post them here on the website for downloading. You'll also notice a blank "extra" page that you can open and print whenever you need additional space for your stories.
Don't forget -- we want to hear some of the responses too! Please send in your favorite stories, and we'll publish several in each issue to celebrate our unique American heritage throughout the year. Also be sure to let us know how you're using the stories: Are you collaborating with other family members? Do you plan to present the finished product as a gift? We want to be part of the excitement this project is sure to generate. Email your stories to Editor@LookingBackMagazine.com or send a copy of your stories to:

Love is in the air!
All around us are the valentines, candy hearts and budding romances that bring back fond memories of our own first loves. It could have been the girl down the street, the boy in class or even the first car we purchased. Whatever the case, when we experienced that sudden fluttering heartbeat of attraction, we were hooked. Today, scientists try to explain away that feeling by pointing to the chemical mix in our brain that leaps into action when we fall in love, but I prefer the explanation offered by Friend Owl, Bambi's winged mentor in the popular 1942 Disney movie. When Bambi the deer and Thumper the rabbit are confused by the behavior of two birds flitting around in crazy fashion, they ask what in the world is wrong with them.
